NEEDED: Ultrasound Technician
LOCATION: Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore (California)
STATUS: Full-Time and PRN
On-Call Duty: evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays,
- Monday – Thursday 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekends: Friday 6:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of Completion of Technologist training program
- 5 years of relevant clinical experience
- Minimum of 1 year of general radiology experience in their respective sub-specties in a level I hospital setting
- Proven clinical work experience within the past 12 months
- Current ARRT
- Current CEUs
- Current BLS, ACLS, or CPR
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform all procedures in sub-specialized radiology area, including evaluation of indication, protocol, triaging, and previewing for exam quality at completion of exam.
- Provide patient care which is appropriate to the cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient population.
- Specialized knowledge of radiology equipment and human anatomy to provide quality diagnostic images for the radiologist to examine and patient’s safety and comfort.
- Positions patients within the examining unit, monitors the patient during all phases of the examination.
- Makes multiple simultaneous settings and adjustments in operation of equipment to insure accurate results.
- On the basis of radiologic findings, determines necessary sub-specialized imaging procedures to yield definitive diagnostic findings.
- Maintain adequate supplies so that examinations are not delayed due to the lack of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Assess, identify needs, plan, implement appropriate interventions, document, and evaluate outcomes of all patients within the sub-specialized imaging section.
- Assesses the patient’s images before, during and after the procedure is of high quality.
- Explains examinations to be performed to the patients so that an understanding of the purpose of the study as well as any requirements of the patients are thoroughly understood.
- Gathers related information such as patient electronic medical record, X-rays, etc.,
- Distributes sub-specialized examinations and related information to the radiologist responsible for the interpretation of the exams.
- Assists quality assurance technologists in performing quality assurance testing on the unit using phantoms, test tools, test check lists, etc. for the purpose of assuring peak performance of the equipment. Maintains records of the quality assurance testing so that easy reference is available should servicing be necessary: (weekly basis)
- Performs or supervises routine housekeeping duties to assure that the sub-specialty section area is clean and sanitary.
- Selects the most pertinent images and electronically transmits them through the hospital and radiology network to the PACS system for image viewing distribution and permanent archive in PACS and WEBPACS throughout radiology and the hospital.
- Will continually evaluate image quality on the computer viewing station.
- Shall be aware of and practice the safety policies/procedures of the medical center and participate in quality assurance activities as directed.
- Shall schedule and coordinate patients for various sub-specialized procedures according to room and time availability.
- Maintains records of patients treated, examination performed and any medical notations.
- Examination quality shall be of such that the physician will be able to evaluate and treat the patient’s condition without requiring repeat examinations.
- All patient safety incidents must be reported within 24 hours using the electronic reporting system, Joint Patient Safety Event Reporting (JPSR).).
- Provide stand by (on-call) and call back services for emergent radiology imaging procedures for the medical center.
