Cork & Kettle is a wine and tea bar located in downtown Norfolk. Cork & Kettle offers guests a unique tasting experience with our self-service system. We specialize in the sale of artisanal Virginia and organic wines for on- and off-premises consumption by the glass or bottle, wine tastings, wine slushies, high-end loose-leaf tea, and light fare (e.g., charcuterie and cheese boards). Cork & Kettle serves as a local platform to showcase the best Virginia wineries and winemakers, providing ease of access to the consumer and encouraging guests to explore local and organic wines and teas in an engaging, comfortable, and relaxing environment. Cork & Kettle is looking for a Hospitality Associate who understands how to provide an exceptional guest experience and personal hospitality for all our guests. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, upbeat, positive, energetic, personable, hard-working, fun-loving individual.
Responsibilities
· Provide excellent customer service by providing a positive and educational guest experience.
· Encourage and complete on-site retail sales of wine, tea and food using our POS system
· Promote Wine & Tea Club memberships to guests and process club sign-ups.
· Work with Management Team to create, plan and execute private and Wine & Tea Club events.
· Perform opening and closing procedures daily for the Tasting Room.
· Prepare and serve food and small bites.
· Assist in restocking, order pickups, and keeping an accurate inventory of wine and goods.
· Continually monitor tasting and common areas to ensure safety and cleanliness.
· Perform various duties such as washing and stocking glasses, completing general clean-up of all guest areas.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Prior experience working in a high-end restaurant, café, bar, winery, or hospitality industry.
· Self-motivated and detail orientated self-starting individual that can successfully work with limited supervision.
· Must have a strong aptitude for elevated customer satisfaction.
· Relaxed, friendly and professional demeanor.
· Comfortable and proficient with technology.
· High energy and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, be a team player, and truly enjoy people.
· Enthusiasm for fine wine and tea along with a desire to learn more.
· Must be 21 years of age or older.
· Ability to work evenings and weekends.
· Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred, high school diploma or equivalent is required.
· Candidates must complete the pre-screening requirements for their application to be considered.
Physical Requirements
· Perform some repetitive motion activities.
· Sit for long periods of time.
· Stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours a day.
· Open wine bottles repeatedly throughout the work shift.
· Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Tasting Room Hours
12 pm to 7 pm Wed and Thurs
12 pm to 9 pm Fri and Sat
12 pm to 6 pm Sun
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
