Overview
Norman Regional Hospital ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. NRHS ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. An ICU RN is highly skilled to rapidly assess a patients condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals. The RN should understand and employ patient safety and harm prevention tools.
Responsibilities
RN essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Collaboration with other health professionals, assessment & analyzing assessment data.
- Establishing goals, planning care strategy, establishing priorities of care & implementing care.
- Delegating tasks safely, providing safe direct and indirect nursing care, evaluating responses to interventions.
- Performing additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation.
- In collaboration with the physician you will provide total patient nursing care by assisting, leading, and/or directing care with a multi-disciplinary team of care providers. NRHS ICU cares for adolescent through geriatric patient.
- NRHS utilizes the Meditech EMR system, Mobilab, and bedside scanning technology.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Associates degree (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Experience
- Previous experience in healthcare field preferred
Licensure/Certification
- Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training is required within 6 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- ICU RN required classes- to include basic arrhythmia, basic 12 lead, advance 12 lead, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, basic pacemaker, CRRT, and Arctic Sun within 12 months of hire
- New grads will be required to complete Vizient/AACN Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program to ensure the best outcome for you during your transition period from school to becoming a professional nurse
Compensation
- $24.75-$40.42/hr based on previous work experience
- Shift Differentials Available: $2.50/hr for evenings, $3.00/hr for overnights, and $3.00/hr for weekends
