What are the responsibilities and job description for the AOD Chute Box Load Operator position at North American Stainless?
DUTIES
1. Loading all chutes with the right material and weight requested by any of these areas.
2. Loading these chutes so that they can be delivered to these areas at the proper time.
3. Assist in the changing of the AOD vessel
4.Checking the material that is delivered to the truck dump to verify it is the correct material and sign off on the loader sheet. Return this sheet to the AOD pulpit.
5. Making sure that the material that goes in the chutes is not wet if so need to let the refining operator know.
6. Assist in any job that needs to be done to enhance production at NAS.
7. Maintain a clean work environment.
8. Do a daily fork lift inspection and fill out this sheet and turn this in to your group lead desk.
9. Check the AOD pits on each shift and inform when they need to be cleaned. When production stops so that they can be cleaned you will need to co-ordinate this work with the contracted company to have this work completed.
10. Inspect the scales each shift to verify they are weighing correctly. If they are not then you need to contact the refiner so that they can get this info passed to get this issue resolved.
11. Maintain a full fuel level in the fork lift at the end of each shift so that the next crew is ready to start work.
12. Bring in and have staged up material for the next several heats that will be ran and maintain this at all times.
13. Bring in and stage any material that is needed on the working deck of the AOD.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Be able to operate fork lift. Have a good understanding of the melt shop in general. Have good communication skills. Be able to work in a hot environment.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Mobility: Standing, sitting, walking, climbing
2. Strength and agility: lifting/carrying 50lb, push, pull climbing bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling
3. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Grasping and handling firmly
4. Ability to work a rotating shift (rotating from days to nights on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule).
