Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medical Technician to join our team at North Caddo Medical Center. As a critical care specialist, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support to patients in emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide fast and efficient advanced life support to patients in emergency situations.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, making differential diagnoses and initiating appropriate treatment.
- Perform critical physical examinations and recognize common cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Understand and anticipate potentially life-threatening sequelae of non-cardiac emergencies and institute appropriate emergency therapy.
- Manage and direct first responders at the scene of a medical emergency.
- File and complete standardized reports of patient information and care.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Any combination of education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates competence in performing technical medical skills, understanding and effectively dealing with emotional and medical needs of victims, and maintaining a professional and objective approach to patient care.
- Ability to learn new concepts in rescue and medical skills and techniques in pre-hospital care.
- Ability to perform a variety of limited mechanical work involved in the use, testing, and maintenance of rescue and medical equipment.
- Ability to direct the work of and teach other personnel.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and orders.
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude when representing North Caddo Medical Center.
Working Conditions
The job performance requires the EMT Paramedic to operate medical vehicles, move medical equipment, and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. Situations can involve vehicular, industrial, and residential accidents, injuries, or illnesses and can occur anywhere in North Caddo Parish.
Work shifts are normally set as a 24-hour shift, and some shifts may be longer. Paramedics must be prepared to stay overnight with enough uniforms and equipment to do so.
Uniforms must be kept clean and neat according to Hospital policy.
