SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Process Improvement Analyst will provide tactical support to terminal operations ensuring continuous improvement of processes throughout all functional areas of NC Ports, in line with organizational goals and objectives. Responsible for the implementation of continuous improvement projects and training to expand capabilities throughout NC Ports operational areas.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
- Partner with business functional areas for the development and implementation of the Continuous Improvement (CI) program with a scope that includes utilizing lean management and efficiency principles.
- Prepare templates, methodologies and change management strategies to eventually cover all critical business processes with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Driving and deploying best practices within operations, project management and administration.
- Identifying and implementing enhanced operational procedures discovered through the CI program across all locations.
- Monitoring operational metrics relevant to the specific operational area to achieve long term sustainability.
- Developing and documenting Work Instructions (WI) by partnering with staff from other functional areas.
- Assist on the integration of the Terminal CI programs. This includes adoption of the ECN4 functionality of NCSPA’s Terminal Operating System Navis N4 (TOS) from planning to billing with associated WIs i.e. SOP/WIs à Planning à Execution à Data Quality à
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the CI programs. This includes evaluating and enhancing CI methodologies, monitoring and reporting information within the organization, and assisting to standardize practices, tools, and formats.
- Support and ensure the utilization of NCSPA’s TOS while streamlining all operational tools with N4 functionality to enable intelligent decision making and improved efficiency. This includes maximizing data capture and accuracy.
- Drive the use of TOS and data mining tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the business and to advance data- driven decision making.
- Assist in the formation and implementation of operational process standards that will reduce the cycle times and make NCSPA more responsive and productive.
- Encourage and facilitate exchange of best practices between functional areas through workshops.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in computer science, business administration or related field preferred.
- Experience in use of terminal operating systems preferably Navis N4.
- Ability to improve and make important changes rapidly.
- Ability to effectively write and communicate SOPs to end users.
- Collaborate and with cross functional teams.
- Broad knowledge of several job areas or mastery in a specified discipline.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet TWIC security requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Required to work split shift and extensive overtime as needed. Available for emergency call in when necessary. Moderate physical effort required to climb ladders while carrying equipment to perform electrical/ electronic repairs, adjustments, and other tasks. Will routinely be required to work at heights of 80 feet, occasional requirements up to 200 feet, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil and seasonal adverse weather conditions. Must be able to effectively use all PPE equipment and lift, push, pull and hold up to 100lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bending consistently, and working in awkward body positions is required.
