Position Purpose
The Assistant Director of the One Stop will provide registration and financial service support to current and incoming students, manage the front desk of the One Stop and provide superior customer service to our students, staff and faculty. Primary responsibilities include assisting students with course registration and supporting students with timely financial preparedness.
This position will report to the Executive Director of the One Stop to work collaboratively with student serving offices to implement student persistence and completion strategies with the goal to increase retention and graduation rates at the university.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide Financial Advisory Services to all Students (50%)
- Develop strategies for timely financial clearance processes before and during each semester.
- Understand Financial Aid policy and Student Account systems in order to effectively communicate and walk students through a financial planning process for their educational journey at NCU.
- Create and produce student financial clearance weekly reporting with year-over-year data.
- Coordinate efforts with Student Financial Services staff and Student Success Center to ensure timely student follow up and assistance is provided.
- Monitor current student outstanding balances to work on a financial plan for persistence through to completion.
- Collaborate with the Student Financial Services Director to ensure student success.
Office Coordinator and Student Worker Supervision (30%)
- Manage front desk responsibilities for the One Stop, including management of incoming office traffic, emails, forms and phone calls to provide excellent customer service.
- Collaborate with the Registrar’s and Student Financial Services on student facing service needs.
- Manage student workers, including interviewing, hiring and supervision of training for new hires.
- Oversee student employees and daily cash reconciliation.
- Provide ongoing training and supervision for student workers so that they can assist in all areas of responsibility across the One Stop.
- Create and manage schedule for student workers to maintain front desk coverage at all times.
Oversee Incoming Student Registration (20%)
- Collaborate with the Registrar and Admissions regarding the new student academic advising, registration and onboarding process.
- Facilitate new student registration, advising new students on what courses to take during their first semester. Collaborate with Program Directors to ensure students are enrolled in appropriate courses for their program.
- Create resources and training guides to facilitate registration and course planning for new and returning students using the NCU website and publications.
- Manage process forms and petitions following university policy and providing clear and timely communication with students and faculty.
Provide Excellent Customer Service for all University Services with the Ultimate Goal of Student Retention (10%)
- Support student questions and services for Student Life, registration and financial support through the lens of student persistence and completion.
- Have strong knowledge on university student processes
- Identify barriers for student retention and collaborate with the Executive Director of the One Stop on retention strategies and initiatives.
- Assist NCU to think more globally and proactively for all student populations including but not limited to first generation, adult learners, online, graduate, students of color, athletes, provisionally admitted and undocumented students.
- Work cross departmentally to identify campus initiatives to impact student experience, especially with Online Undergraduate and Graduate Studies.
- Counsel students who are withdrawing from the university.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Education and experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required
- Commitment the mission, vision, and statement of faith of NCU
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be willing to live within the lifestyle statement of the University
- Higher Ed experience of 2-4 years preferred
- Bilingual Spanish skills preferred
