Summary of Work
The position (36-36-5822) functions as part of the Children and Family Services Unit and provides protective services for children under age 18. This includes Child Protection assessments and follow-up services to families. Workers provide intake services, emergency intervention and placements as well as educational programs. This position also provides case management services to foster children and their families, including licensure of family foster homes as part of a multi-county district agreement.
All activities require strict confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, elementary education, special education, child development and family science, human resource management (human service track), or ciminal justice, and two years of professional human services work as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. A Master's degree in one of the areas above may substitute for one year of rhe work experience requirement. The position requires social work knowledge, dynamics of human behavior, and a great deal of independent decision making.
If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Services Specialist II (SC 7004). Minimum qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human services, human resource development (human service track), education, child development and family science or criminal justice, and one (1) year of professional human services work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager; or a Master’s degree in one of the areas above.
If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Services Specialist I (SC 7004). Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Must complete Child Welfare Certification.
