INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY –Audio Visual Technician

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience and demonstrable knowledge of design, installation, use, maintenance, and support of audio-visual and multimedia systems.
  • Knowledge and certificates required to service Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, other components as required.
  • Knowledge of, and skill in, using supported applications and their design, theories, principles, practices, and usage of computer and audio-visual hardware and software.
  • Serve as instructor for staff on audio-visual technology techniques, applications, and utilization. Develop procedural guidelines and training documentation, as needed for end users.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects successfully; coordinate and manage the work of integrators, consultants and other professional and technical staff.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • The applicant must be thorough in their work and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate problems with supervisor(s) as they become known.
  • Ability to work and coordinate in a fast-paced, team environment.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology

JOB GOAL: The Audio Visual Technician provides technical expertise for the North Kansas City School District. The position advises and/or assists faculty, staff, and students in the design and use of AV and multimedia equipment throughout its facilities. The position will help to develop technology deployment strategies that best support the mission of the district.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to support faculty, staff, and students.
  • Instructs students, staff, and/or coaches in use of AV / Multimedia equipment in studio, gym, field, and classroom settings.
  • Provide advice on AV / Multimedia setup or design, equipment acquisition or enhancement, operation, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Live event video streaming and video broadcasting support (e.g Board meetings, sports, etc.).
  • Design and/or adapt equipment and materials to meet specific needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and policies.
  • Generate supply orders and negotiate directly with vendors as appropriate.
  • Provide budget and estimate reports.
  • Perform diagnosis, technical assessments, and administrative work involved in planning, design, and installation of equipment and related configurations.
  • Ensure inventory is maintained and updated on a regular basis.
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment, including cleaning and minor repairs, if applicable. Arrange for repairs and schedules preventive maintenance that cannot be performed in-house.
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. administrators, teachers, engineers, technicians, managers, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information and ensuring ongoing success.
  • Coordinate work between infrastructure, technology support, network, and other department teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration on all audiovisual projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation and records of all AV systems in the district (e.g designs, configuration files, IP addresses, how-to guides, etc.) for the purpose of streamlining troubleshooting, team cross-training, and preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrate basic networking knowledge for the purpose of installation and maintenance of advanced AV control systems.
  • Initiate and monitor warranty procedures for all equipment for providing the team with support through product replacement.
  • Manage daily work schedule according to current request and incident workload for effective time and project management.
  • Monitor and implement critical firmware updates district wide for proper equipment functionality, security, and relativity.
  • Monitors the incoming of end-user incidents and requests within the audio-visual team to ensure rapid and responsible responses.
  • Availability to support after hours and on weekends.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and use of a ladder.

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

FLSA: Exempt

RETIREMENT: Public Education Employee Retirement Systems (PEERS) & Social Security or Certified Teacher (PSRS) & Social Security

CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
