What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer I position at North MS Medical Group?
SUMMARY
Performs design engineering assignments to assist with the design and development of new contact components or redesign existing components to improve company products. Position involves concept definition, creation of Solid Works and/or AutoCAD modeling and drawings, interaction with vendor and customer base, and product support to CarlisleIT Sales, Engineering, and Production.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Designs electrical contacts or improve existing products resulting in reduced costs, superior performance, and optimal design for manufacturability.
· Develops 3D models and 2D drawings of new designs and maintains drawing configuration control of existing drawings.
· Prepares and conducts Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR) for New Product Development (NPD) projects.
· Investigates and corrects product design related issues, documents findings and performs corrective and improvement actions/changes as necessary.
· Participates in customer design reviews and problem-solving sessions and provides support to Sales when necessary.
· Provides technical support to vendor base and participates in vendor quality meetings as necessary. Coordinates design activity with vendor base to ensure designs are optimized for cost control and manufacturability.
· Investigates and verifies compliance of designs to customer and industry specifications.
· Develops testing requirements and participate in testing as necessary to ensure compliance to all regulatory, industry, and customer requirements.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge through educational courses, trade publications, industry workshops and trade shows, and membership in professional trade organizations.
· Contributes to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.
