What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Bookkeeper position at North Star Tax & Accounting?
We are looking for an experienced Lead Bookkeeper to join our team. This person will be working under our Accounting Manager and will oversee a small accounting team. You will have a set list of clients in a lot of different industries and will need to be able to learn and adapt quickly. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker who is reliable, a hard worker, and has a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Professional correspondence with clients
- Lead a team of bookkeepers, providing training and coaching where needed
- Oversee the team’s day-to-day operations and ensure deadlines are being met
- Review and ensure accuracy of all bookkeeping accounts on your team
- Prepare and file state and city B&O tax
- Enter bank, credit card, and loan activity and reconcile accounts
- Enter and pay bills, and attach backup documentation
- Monitor 1099 vendors for W9s and COI’s and complete 1099 filings
- Invoicing customers and receiving customer payments
- Collections on past due accounts
- Misc. projects and assignments
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in Accounting, preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
- Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping, and computer operation
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
