North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.
Candidates must be able to meet the standards required to obtain and hold a Secret or Higher US Government Clearance
Job Description
- Write and review Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs).
- Evaluate project data quality objectives and ensure selected laboratories meet those objectives.
- Evaluate analytical data to ensure overall project data quality objectives have been met as required by the client and as stated in the Quality Assurance Project Plan.
- Consult with project team on data quality and usability.
- Prepare technical report sections describing precision, accuracy, representativeness, comparability, sensitivity and overall data usability.
- Procure analytical laboratory services ensuring environmental laboratories meet Department of Defense (DOD) project requirements.
- Laboratory coordination, ordering bottle kits, communicating field schedule, being contractor Point of Contact (POC) for laboratory and field team.
- Track sample shipments during mobilizations to the field and ensure samples are received and logged in correctly.
- Review reported data deliverables for accuracy and request corrections from lab.
- Organize large amounts of data for multiple projects.
- Update multiple project teams on status of sample data.
- Address deficiencies or errors in laboratory data.
- Write and review reports for DOD clients based on sampling activities and results.
Qualifications
The Project Chemist shall have, as a minimum, the following qualifications:
- A minimum of a four-year college degree in Chemistry from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- A minimum of four (4) years of combined professional experience at the level of a commercial environmental analytical laboratory or working as a part of a Contractor project management team of which a minimum of one to five (5) years must be directly related to environmental investigations and/or remedial actions as a part of a Contractor management team (i.e., not primarily employed at a laboratory).
- The Project Chemist will be expected to have a "hands on" role in management of project tasks associated with sampling and analysis including preparation of SAP, instruction of field personnel in sampling and preservation requirements, general oversight of field personnel involved in sampling activities, coordination with the analytical laboratory to insure readiness to implement project specific requirements, review of analytical data as it becomes available to ensure conformance with quality standards, and implementation of corrective actions in accordance with these specifications when review of data uncovers deficiencies.
- The Project Chemist shall conduct or oversee all on site analytical testing including field screening tests.
- The Project Chemist shall review and verify all chemical data for hazardous waste manifests.
- The Project Chemist shall also prepare all data validation reports or review for accuracy all data validation reports prepared by subcontractors.
- The Project Chemist must have thorough knowledge of environmental analytical chemistry methodologies as described in EPA SW-846 and QC procedures as applicable to environmental analytical chemistry.
Candidate should have Experience/familiarity with:
- Uniform Federal Policy for Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPP) worksheets and requirements
- DOD Data Validation Guidelines requirements
- DOD Quality Systems Manual (QSM) laboratory requirements
- Environmental laboratory electronic data deliverables (EDDs) used by Federal agencies
- Environmental consulting projects for Federal clients such as USACE, BLM, EPA
- EPA environmental analytical methods for VOCs, SVOCs, PCBs, Metals, PFAS, Petroleum, and water quality parameters used to evaluate contaminant concentrations in soil, groundwater, surface water, and air.
