What are the responsibilities and job description for the LOA/Benefits Specialist (On-Site) position at Northbay?
At NorthBay Health the Leave of Absence (LOA)/Benefits Specialist will primarily work onsite and is responsible for advocating, administering, and maintaining all leave of absence programs at NorthBay Healthcare in conjunction with the Manager, LOA/Benefits. The LOA/Benefits Specialist, determines qualifications, processes and tracks employee leaves of absence. Is responsible for the calculations and integrations with third party pay such as SDI, PFL, WC. In addition, this position is responsible for benefit life event processing and processing of benefit eligibility reports and billing on a monthly basis.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree desirable, otherwise must have 8 years of experience (2 to 1 equivalent years of experience) of disability management/benefits or general human resource experience is equal to 1 year of education.
- Licensure: PHR or SHRM-CP preferred. Certification in Professional Disability Management or Leave Management within 12 months of start date.
- Experience: Minimum of three years related work experience as an HR Specialist, or in the field of Disability Management, Leave of Absence Administration, or Case Management. General knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding State Disability, Family Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, Pregnancy Disability Leave, Reasonable Accommodation, American's with Disabilities Act, and Fair Employment and Housing Act. Experience interpreting and communicating policy requirements.
- Skills: High level of initiative and independent work skills. Ability to use independent judgment and work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to reprioritize work as needed. Intermediate to advanced familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint). Excellent written, verbal, and phone communication skills. A high level of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Database report writing preferred. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion and have a high attention to detail and accuracy.

Compensation: MIN $37.81 - $41.67 ( offered based on years of direct experience)
