Safety Coordinator

Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) is a transmission cooperative delivering power to northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa. We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team at the Palmyra, Missouri, location.

What You Will Do:

This position will provide primary operational ownership of our live line and tabletop safety demonstration units, support safety and environmental compliance programs, and assist in safety training initiatives for Northeast Power and our member-distribution cooperatives. In addition, you will:

• Maintain, deliver, and set-up/tear down live line and tabletop safety demonstration units and associated equipment.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the demonstration units and related activities.
• Conduct and document safety inspections, audits and other compliance-related programs, including field observations and vehicle inspections.
• Assist in the development and implementation of safety-related training materials and standard operating procedures.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, cooperatives, and regulatory agencies.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about being an integral part of Northeast Power’s positive safety culture. This role requires a safety-conscience, self-motivated individual who possesses strong communication and organizational skills. In addition, we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, technical degree from an approved line school, or equivalent experience.
• Must be a Journeyman Lineman or possess a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a safety professional in the high voltage electric industry is strongly preferred. Other combinations of experience in the high voltage electric utility industry may be considered.
• Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) is preferred or the ability to obtain within three (3) years of hire.
• Knowledge and application of OSHA, EPA, DOT rules and regulations.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deal effectively and professionally with personnel and the public in a variety of situations.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or Class B) within six (6) months of hire.
• Experience with personal computers, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
