Position
The Planner/Buyer reviews and analyzes purchase requirements, coordinates purchasing activities with other departments on a variety of material-related issues, understands ERP planning, maintains a current inventory of raw, WIP, and finished goods. This position is responsible for data input, integrity, and performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (i.e. materials, components, equipment, and services). The Planner/Buyer works with the Engineering and Quality departments and recommends costs savings proposals.
Responsibilities
- Procure and participate in sourcing a wide variety of materials for multiple NorthStar facilities.
- Maintain, expedite, and manage purchase orders through final receipt. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained at all times.
- Maintain inventory system for raw, WIP, and finished goods to ensure material availability within ERP system, reorder reports, and Kanban management.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Operations to plan and procure materials to meet demand forecasts, factoring in dock and quality control lead times.
- Work with the Logistics team to provide cost-effective inbound logistics for product deliveries.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and 2 or more years of material purchasing experience within a biotechnology or medical device manufacturing environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. APICS or supply chain management certification is preferred, but not required.

NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes is headquartered in Beloit, Wis. This location is our primary manufacturing site and accommodates all of our corporate functions. Beloit has small city charm, with a lively and renovated downtown, yet is also close to cities such as Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Rockford.
