Job Description
Leads and guides Radiology Technologists. Operates X-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
Job Responsibility
* * Assigns cases and other tasks to technical staff, establishes patient flow priorities room assignments, and prioritizes cases based on condition of patient.
* * Reviews examinations of the technical staff to assure standards of quality and completeness are maintained confirming items such as patient data side site markers etc are correct.
* * Proficient in all aspects of the RIS and PACS systems.
* * Provides direction, designates assignments and distributes work to transport staff.Prioritizes workload.
* * Provides on the job training to technical staff.Assists management by overseeing and providing input as to technical staff performance on a regular basis.
* * Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
* * Maintains all logs, i.e fluoro, daily room checks, shift change, etc.
* * Oversees room checks in the department and reports all problems to a supervisor or manager as they occur.
* * Coordinates intra departmental and inter departmental communications
* * Makes emergency notifications as necessary to on call personnel.
* * Assigns break and lunch times to technologists and transporters according to department standards and routines.Makes substitutions and variations according to patient flow and departmental needs.
* * Orders supplies as needed and assists with inventory control.
* * Observes department of Radiation safety procedures to maintain in occupational exposures as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
* * Transports patients when necessary to expedite examinations and or patient satisfaction.
* * Performs the duties of an X-ray Technologist.
* * Interfaces with patient, staff and physicians both within and external to the department to facilitate the improvement of the patient experience in every possible way
* * Works continuously to improve Press Ganey scores via patient satisfaction.
* Performs related duties as required.
*ADA Essential Functions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS* Constant standing and walking frequent stooping, bending, stretching, lifting, positioning, pulling, pushing, turning
* Occasional sitting
* Frequently lifts or moves objects
* Occasionally carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds
* Frequently pushes patients or objects up to 200 pounds
* Occasionally moves with assistance, patients or objects greater than 250 pounds.
Job Qualification
* Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, required.
* New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
* American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) required.
* Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including competency in CAT scan or MRI examinations, required.
