What are the responsibilities and job description for the Battalion Chief position at Northwest Ambulance?
The Battalion Chief's responsibilities include overseeing station operations, field staff, and mid-level administrative tasks. The Battalion Chief works in conjunction with the Division Chief or their delegate, handling a combination of complex long-term projects and simple daily duties. In their battalion, they are in charge of day-to-day activities, operations, and the employees and units working under them. Their main duty is to ensure that employees adhere to Northwest Ambulance policies, procedures, directives, and industry standards.
· Oversee the employees assigned to their battalion.
· Ensure the maintenance of fleets and facilities in their battalion.
· Provide leadership in daily operations.
· Offer assistance to field personnel with operational issues.
· Maintain a positive relationship with contracted facilities on behalf of NWA.
· Attend local and regional EMS council meetings.
· Support the Safety Chief in investigating field staff injuries/accidents.
· Manage on-duty BBP/ABP exposures to employees.
· Encourage, counsel, and train employees.
· Assist in maintaining daily staffing levels to ensure 24hr coverage of all CCT, ALS, and BLS ambulances.
· Identify and adjust staffing levels as necessary to meet daily requirements, aiming to minimize overtime.
