NLS is experiencing tremendous growth and we are currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our growing team!

  • Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000 determined on experience
  • We are offering a $2,000 Signing Bonus for this opportunity!

Nature of Work:

The Assistant Superintendent works with the project management team to efficiently build new landscape projects through trained crews, material management, and equipment. In addition, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the cleanliness of a job site, safety, labor tracking, timekeeping, training, retention of employees and job performance.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Study drawings, specs, revisions, budget, worksheets and submittal package
  • Complete material take-offs
  • Meet with estimator and project manager to discuss job, questions and change orders
  • Assist with preparing monthly progress payment requests
  • Ensure safety meetings, policies and procedures are being followed by all field employees
  • Assist crew(s) - labor, bring materials or equipment as needed
  • Evaluate progress against budget and worksheets
  • Maintain adequate crew size for job's needs
  • Work with architect, general contractor, owner to resolve changes in scope of work
  • Manage subcontractors – includes schedule, submittals, billings, safety
  • Work with project manager to prepare requests for change orders/extra work orders/RFIs
  • Solidify relationships with general contractors, owners, and architects in order to assist in retaining future work through negotiation
  • Ensure safety on every project by enforcing safety training and meetings, as well as consistently monitor job sites for potential safety hazards
  • Constantly promote and encourage adherence to company policies and best practices
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, or related field or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.
  • At least 3 years related work experience
  • Construction or landscape installation services experience required
  • General plant, irrigation, construction and drainage knowledge
  • General knowledge of material and labor costs
  • Supervisor experience preferred

Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid driver license issued by the state in where employed

Specialized Skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong customer service skills, with internal and external clients
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to read and interpret constructions plans/drawings
  • Experience working the commercial property managers, vendors, consultants and architects a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform well under deadlines
  • Organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, and Project Management Software
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule format
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees and clients
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English
  • Bilingual English Spanish a plus
