Description

The Manager Transport reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.


In addition, our Manager Transport plans, organizes, directs and controls the operation and personnel of the departments. Utilizes departmental and hospital resources and delegates authority and responsibility to subordinates to accomplish functions and tasks listed herein.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, recommends and implements functional plans, policies, procedures and programs that will assist the hospital in meeting its current and future institutional objectives.
  • Ensures that the forms inventory systems for receipt, storage and distribution are effectively performed, maintained and improved.
  • Ensures that business transactions are conducted in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Works with the Systems Administrator, other Materials managers and departments to effectively utilize information systems to execute forms development & distribution.
  • Maintains order and security of forms in all par level locations and inventory.
  • Implements and maintains ongoing employee safety training within the supervised unit.
  • Conducts or arranges appropriate safety training for each supervised employee at least annually in accordance with Administrative Policy 3-2-6, EMPLOYEE SAFETY EDUCATION, which provides that annual safety training will be part of the Safety Management Program for employees to assure that the hospital’s physical environment is free of hazards and to minimize the risk of human injury. Within the electronic Healthstream software system, documents the completion of content and attendance of safety training and educational competencies for staffs.
  • Establishes controls to ensure effective implementation, operation and evaluation of plans, policies, procedures and programs. Assures that all forms additions/updates follow the approval process of print shop requisition and forms data sheet completion.
  • Establishes standards of performance and monitors results.
  • Assures that patients are correctly identified using two patient identifiers for all transports performed.
  • Serves on committees as requested.
  • Provides counsel and guidance to hospital staff on matters pertaining to areas of responsibility. Enforces administrative, personnel and department policies and procedures.
  • Develops goals that promote and improve operational effectiveness of the department and a plan to achieve and monitor them.
  • Annually submits goals and objectives with an action plan for approval.
  • Maintains a functional department policy and procedure manual and ensures that they are in compliance with Administrative Policies, Personnel Policies, and with local, state, federal and The Joint Commission requirements. Policies and Procedures are to be revised and approved, as needed.
  • Formulates, recommends, implements and maintains a department organization for personnel and tasks that will enable the department to accomplish its goals and objectives.
  • Selects and trains personnel.
  • Recommends appropriate personnel actions.
  • Enforces hospital & departmental policies.
  • Responsible for the development of self and the department staff to ensure high levels of competency and performance.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings and in-services/education.
  • Orientates new employees to, and reviews annually with all staff, internal and external disaster plans, departmental safety programs as well as handling of hazardous materials.
  • Job involves coordination, organization and long-range planning with deadline pressures which require considerable mental concentration; incumbent functions, not detailed herein, may arise which require accountability for results where there may not be precedent or procedure; errors in decision making or of employees may not be detected immediately, could result in major embarrassment, financial loss, and/or injury to patients.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Strong communication skills, organization skills and planning skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelors Degree or 5-7 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
  • 5-7 years’ progressive leadership experience in Hospital Operations capacity.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with accounting procedures
  • Familiarity with logistical processes and computerized material / resource management information systems
  • Familiarity with medical terminology / supply applications
  • Familiarity with desk top publishing software and forms management
  • Familiarity with Epic Grand Central Patient Transportation software system
