Responsibilities
The Lead Scheduler will perform all of the duties of the Scheduler and in addition will have final oversight and direction for the daily/weekly surgery schedule. Will work to update maintain block grid. Will work with surgical leadership to coordinate block requests and will help answer questions/guide surgery schedulers when questions or difficulty with scheduling cases. While working as Scheduler, will schedule surgical procedures, including complex procedures, involving multiple resources. Schedulers also schedule procedures for endoscopy, pain, infusion center and pre-admission testing. The individual instructs doctor's office and/or patients regarding pre-procedures, clinical preparations as required, and obtains basic demographic and insurance information while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. The scheduler is also responsible for reviewing physician orders and confirmation for completeness and accuracy. The scheduler accurately processes orders through FACSys electronic software and processes the order through the Paperless Order Process to file orders accurately. Schedulers must also confirm Medical Necessity criteria on Medicare accounts via Norton Healthcare Medical Necessity software program. Schedulers are responsible to confirm Physician's block time is appropriately utilized.
