The Account Manager develops and leads the partnering relationship with customers to ensure the sustainable delivery of high-value solution products and services. As the gatekeeper for our customer-focused offerings, he / she is responsible for maintaining, strengthening, and broadening existing account relationships, as well as developing new accounts relationships. The sales engineer / account manager will liaise externally among direct customer contacts; end-user customer contacts whenever possible; and internally with the ATI sales, engineering, and operations team members to optimize customer product and service deliveries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Acts as an independent, individual contributor to facilitate the discovery, diagnosis, design, and deliveries of high-value customer products and services
- Acts as the customers’ representative to internally communicate the needs and expectations of the customer
- Develops, maintains, and strengthens sustainable customer relationships within their assigned sales territory
- Provides first level support for applications engineering service requests and leverages internal resources to meet needs of territory customers.
- Develops a trusted advisor relationship with key customer stakeholders and executive sponsors
- Identifies and grows opportunities within sales territory and collaborates within the sales teams to ensure growth attainment
- Communicates frequently and clearly the progress of client engagements and program initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders and documents via CRM log entries, sales call reports, and customer meeting notes, etc.
- Forecasts sales for existing and new accounts, including tracking defined key account metrics.
- Assists with high severity requests or customer issue escalations as needed.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of experience in selling technical products within industrial robotic and / or automation and manufacturing markets (e.g. automotive, aerospace, packaging, electronic assembly, etc.).
- BA / BS degree in engineering or in a relevant field with experience in robotics and / or electro – mechanical technical sales and support
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels employers’ and customers’ organizations
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and consultation to define customer solutions
- Experienced in delivering company solutions that align with explicit customer needs
- Proven ability to work independently with high organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects with high attention to detail
- Effective listening, negotiations and meeting facilitation skills
- Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communications skills
- Effective prospecting skills from cold calling to lead management follow-up
- Has experience in uncovering, diagnosing, and designing technical solutions consistent with customer needs.
- Resides in Michigan
