Summary of the Position :
The External Communications Senior Manager/Associate Director will play a critical communications role for this global and rapidly growing company of 1500 employees (for context, the company had 165 employees in March 2020). The Senior Manager/Associate Director will help to create and maintain a unified image of Novavax through the development and execution of external communications activities that support the company’s business objectives, with a focus on news flow activities.
Novavax is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual for this position, which reports to the Senior Director, News Flow, External Communications. The successful candidate will partner with internal and external partners to successfully showcase Novavax’ science and regulatory milestones and shape the strategy for the rollout of news across the globe.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Support development of messaging strategy for news releases and draft content, incorporating corporate messaging
- Facilitate review of materials across a range of internal subject matter experts, reviewers, and executives
- Liaise with communications staff at partner organizations to coordinate joint announcements and external messaging
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the vaccines market, relevant scientific topics, and business context
- Work compliantly within a highly regulated industry
- Support other aspects of communication, including but not limited to logistics, reporting, etc.
- Liaise with internal inter- and intradepartmental partners as needed
- Partner with external PR agency to support development of materials
Experience and Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in communications in healthcare or the life sciences; agency or in-house biotech/pharma experience preferred
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to understand and synthesize industry content in a meaningful and impactful manner
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds and high attention to detail - managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners
- Strong work ethic and commitment to results while developing professional skills in a positive work environment
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
