We are currently looking for a Field Service Technician (Level III) to provide meter services necessary to obtain meter readings.
This position will ensure accurate recordings of electric usage, meter installation, maintenance, and removal and locating underground distribution facilities.
This position will also provide debt recovery services on delinquent accounts while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction in accordance with NOVEC policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following :
Obtain meter readings by utilizing the Sensus FlexNet EasyLink and Autoread programs; ensure accurate recordings of electric usage;
and investigate, maintain, and update records for proper billing utilizing G-5 and FS300 handheld equipment.
Accurately locate and mark NOVEC underground distribution facilities and NOVEC-owned fiber. Maintain communications with excavators to ensure NOVEC's underground facilities are marked and maintain a marking schedule that is agreeable to the contractor and NOVEC.
Mark utilities for NOVEC designers and customers for proposed utility installation / relocation. Notify NOVEC mapping when utilities / equipment are mapped incorrectly.
- Perform underground utility reports for damage to our facilities by contractors performing excavation.
- Connect, disconnect, and transfer service for NOVEC's customers. Ensure meters are installed at the correct locations, meter cabinets are labeled properly and perform inspections on meter bases to ensure they are in safe condition.
Communicate with multiple departments in order to report issues with equipment in the field (transformers, pol fuses, etc.
Check for voltage issues, faulty meter equipment, and low / high power usage when requested.
- Deliver collection notices for delinquent account holders, collect payments on delinquent accounts, and disconnect services for nonpayment.
- Be aware of possible current diversion situations, investigate, and report such incidents to the manager / supervisor.
Take appropriate action to be sure the meter base is secure.
Perform damage assessment of the NOVEC distribution system during storms. Work with various departments to perform field checks on NOVEC's system when requested.
Must be available from time to time to perform tasks after hours (emergency locates, reconnecting service, etc.).
Exchange meters for service and perform meter installation, maintenance, and removal of single and self-contained three-phase meters.
Perform routine meter exchanges to satisfy the State Corporation Commission's yearly requirement of removing meters from the field and testing them for calibration.
Perform position responsibilities in accordance with NOVEC policies and procedures and VOSHA safety regulations.
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma or GED with a technical or mathematical background is required.
- A minimum of twelve months of previous experience in underground utility locating.
- 12 months of experience working on the NOVEC system meter reading; meter installation, maintenance, and removal; and work with 600-volt electric utility meter systems or equivalent experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and the general public both orally and in writing while maintaining professionalism and control in all circumstances.
- Apply working knowledge and ability to operate a personal computer / laptop / IOS devices and related software such as NISC IVUE connect, Polaris Workforce, and MS Office.
- Ability to work with System Operations Department to locate and report damage to the NOVEC system whenever necessary and investigate damages when found.
- Ability to perform all responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies / procedures and VOSHA safety guidelines
- Anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
