What are the responsibilities and job description for the MQ SAMPLER I position at NOW Foods Branding?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs raw material evaluation on all incoming shipments by inspecting the condition and appearance of material and packaging.
- Obtains representative lot samples.
- Completes necessary documentation pertaining to the sampling of raw materials and finished contract manufactured products, including logbook completion.
- Performs Oracle/LIMs data entry related to the sampling of raw materials.
- Maintains the inventory of sampled components.
- Maintains inventory of sampling supplies and submits supply requisitions to designated personnel.
- Performs housekeeping (i.e. cleaning utensils, sweeping floor) responsibilities in the sample booth.
- Performs audits to ensure compliance with GMPs and SOPs.
- Communicates problems/out of specification issues to supervisor/lead.
- Completes inspection and disposition of customer return items at the Roselle warehouse.
- Truthfully and legibly completes required paperwork, written and electronic reports.
- Identifies and submits suggestions to improve efficiencies, quality and safety.
- Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in quality processes, inspection, and GMP environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills with Outlook, Word and Excel required. Oracle and LIMS experience preferred.
PERFORMANCE ABILITY
MQ Sampler I may be assigned to work in any area in which he/she has been trained based on the needs of the department on a given day. Must be able to handle multiple tasks happening at the same time. Must have excellent attention to detail skills and identify issues with materials being sampled.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as product specifications, departmental instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine e-mails to communicate within QC and with operations personnel. Accurately and truthfully completes documentation. Good verbal communication and listening skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply basic math (i.e. addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) and concepts such as fractions, percentages, and averages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to compare results to specifications to determine if result meets requirements. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions. Good problem solving skills required.

The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place:
- 5 lbs. from ground level and place at 61 high inch level; return to original position.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. (i.e. loading pallets) from waist to 65 inches and return to waist level.
- Lift up to 35 lbs. (i.e. loading pallets) from 5 inches to 47 inches and return to 5 inches.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. (i.e. drum transfer) from waist to waist with 90 degree turn.
- Raise and/or drag up to 55 lb. pallet from floor onto side, move 10 ft. and return to original position.
- Push and pull (i.e. pallet jacks) with force of 42 lbs. up to a 36 inch height.
