Opportunity Information:
We have one full-time, permanent opportunity available for a Trainer on our afternoon shift (Monday to Thursday 3:30pm to 2:00am) shift in our Surrey BC location.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Training Supervisor, the Trainer will perform all training functions related to OFP team members. The Trainer's focus is delivering outstanding customer service, best practices, safety and ensuring SOP compliance. The Trainer will be key to the growth and development of the training program with the goal of increasing retention and creating an exceptional onboarding experience. The Trainer is to be a mentor to all new employees and helps create and demonstrate NRI team spirit.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides training for individual or group settings to the new hire as well as NRI employees
- Aids in creating the training methods, program and continuous improvement projects
- Coaches and inspires employees to exceed required production goals
- Conducts skill needs assessment to identify specific skill/knowledge gaps, training objectives, work situations and changes in training policies and procedures
- Coordinates training for a new hire with NRI employees ensuring training is delivered and evaluated for consistency
- Observes employees to determine the effectiveness of the training process and ensure that any additional training requirements are fulfilled
- Documents each training process and properly provides follow-up for refresher training courses for employees not meeting required goals
- Determines trainees are aware of order accuracy and UPH
- Exhibits and practices positive communication and team-building skills with trainees to ensure a consistently professional environment
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to the Supervisor and/or Safety Manager
- Maintains a training log and all training documentation
- Scans or submits all original training documents to the Training Supervisor
- Ensures all SOPs are current
- Functions as a team member within the department and performs additional duties as assigned

- One year at NRI or 1 year of training experience
- Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidently speaks in front of large groups of people
- Must have general leadership capabilities
- Fast learner (will need to learn to train in multiple departments)
- Understands how to deliver great customer service
- Patience with different learning styles among training employees
- Comfortable providing positive and constructive feedback
- Is flexible to meet the needs of the business
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Must be proficient with or willing to learn Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint)
- Understands decisions have a critical effect on the organization’s reputation, team members, client services, policies and/or operations
- Understands the importance of confidentiality (a Trainer may be exposed to performance management conversations)
- Connects with new hires and builds rapport so they have a positive experience at NRI
- Able to read and write English
The Must Haves:
- High school diploma required (post-secondary education preferred) a combination of experience and education may be considered
- 3 years of relevant work experience and/or 1 year of direct training experience
- MHE experience a plus
- Physical ability to carry out the duties, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs, walking and standing for extended periods, climbing ladders and tolerating conditions such as dust, dirt, noise, odors, heat, cold, etc.
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- Preference for someone who has implemented continuous improvements to drive customer fulfillment, quality, efficiency and safety
Salary : $19 - $21
