Underwriter-Healthcare

NTT DATA Services currently seeks a Underwriter, to perform accurate analysis and risk assessment for Medicare Advantage opportunities. This is a hybrid role to join our team in Hartford, CT for a 6 month contract. Work from home Monday & Friday, in office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Role Responsibilities

Underwriting directly helps our company achieve financial and strategic goals. As the financial professionals who identify and calculate risk, underwriters are charged with increasing revenues, earnings and membership while protecting the company from loss.

- Performs accurate analysis and risk assessment for Medicare Advantage opportunities.
- Complexity of work increases as technical skills progress.
- Works with mentor/manager to recommend pricing and/or alternatives based on financial analysis, underwriting principals, and business strategy.
- Utilizes basic functionality of underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials to produce accurate new business proposals.
- Applies underwriting guidelines and escalates underwriting exceptions/financial variances for their assigned cases to the appropriate level.
- Assists sales personnel in explaining strategy, rate development and communicating underwriting policy.
- Produces timely and accurate customer specific documents, deliverables and case related information.
- Assists department with projects or workgroups.
- May identify and support process improvement through automation or process change.

Required Skills/Experience

Required Qualifications:
- 2 years experience in underwriting, demonstrating the ability to utilize analytical and independent thinking skills.

2 years utilizing underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials to produce accurate new business proposals.
- 2 years experience working with Microsoft Office products.

Other duties:

- Demonstrated success prioritizing work and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience providing clear and concise written and verbal communications.

Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
