What are the responsibilities and job description for the Encapsulation Press Operator position at Nutraceutical?
Essential Functions
- Operate machinery used for mixing, blending and crushing raw materials to prepare for further processing or for commercial use. May operate encapsulation machine and control the amount of product from hopper into capsules.
- Weigh raw materials and dump, pour, pump or scoop materials into machine or tank according to formula or other specifications.
- Adjust controls to draw specified amounts and proportions of different raw materials from storage bin.
- Convey materials and items from receiving or production area to storage or to other designated areas by hand, hand truck, electric hand truck, forklift, and/or freight elevator.
- Ensure quality of finished products.
- Light maintenance of machine. Requires breakdown and disassembly of machine parts for cleaning and product changes. Re-assembly of machine for product changes or shift changes. Notifies maintenance of delays or malfunctions.
Additional Responsibilities
- As part of the production team each employee is required to cross train
- Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six to nine months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prefer experience with hand truck, forklift and/or lifts for material handling.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements
- The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to move objects.
- Required to wear protective gear (i.e. hearing protection and respirator) due to considerable noise from machinery and a dusty environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
- May be required to pass a pre-employment lift test and physical.
