Accountant

Description

• compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts.
• ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
• make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closing processes.

• resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• prepare journal entries.
• complete general ledger operations
• reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts.
• prepare analysis of accounts as requested.

• administer accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
• assist with payroll administration.
• perform monthly bank settlements and reconciliation.
• review and process expense reports.
• assist in preparing and filing tax returns.
• assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required
• At least two years’ experience in accounting or a related field
• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Organizational Relationships

• This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Physical Requirements

• Reading, keying, speaking and analyzing are the major activities.
• Occasionally lifting and/or carrying small items (files, manuals, binders) up to 35 pounds maximum.
• Occasionally bending, walking and standing.

Work Environment

• Working in an office environment within a food processing facility and the production and warehouse areas that may have wet floors, humid and/or dusty conditions.
• The ambient noise level in the food processing area does not currently require the use of ear plugs, although these are available. Facility regularly processes known food allergens.
