Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practice's locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices.
Summary:
Performs diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. Provides clinical instruction to prospective radiologic technologist students and evaluates students ability to perform procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Greets patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
2. Reviews patient script & Cerner requisition. Ensure appropriate exam is being performed. Acquires history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed. Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.
3. Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety and comfort of the patient. Interacts professionally with patient and family.
4. Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.
5. Produces and reviews high quality xrays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
6. Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures.
7. Leads, coaches, and mentors staff members.
8. Works with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
9. Assists with training students and ancillary personnel.
10. Attends annual hospital review (compliance) and departmental in-services and meetings as scheduled.
11. Practices medicine and surgical aseptic procedures.
12. May provide supervision and clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill the duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility while maintaining excellent patient care.
13. May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures, and assures student attains objectives in each competency. May perform periodic written evaluation of students.
14. Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).
15. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
Required: Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.
