SHEETMETAL/ROOFING MECHANIC

The NuWorx sheet/metal roofing mechanic works from sketches, blueprints, or verbal instructions necessary to make metal roofing products, and then installs a wide variety of metal roofs, wall panels, metal roof flashing, and flat roof flashings made from sheets of galvanized steel, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, pre-painted metals and other materials. A sheet metal mechanic uses hand or power-operated tools and material to fabricate and install perimeter metal edges, counter flashing, wall flashing, drip edges, vents, cowls, gutters, downspouts and conductor heads for all types of flat and slope roofs for commercial and residential buildings. Duties vary depending on the type of construction that each job entails.

Reports to:                   Superintendent

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

• Communicate with Superintendent and or Foremen regarding scope of work and daily goals and follow their directions as required
• Ensure that job has all necessary materials, equipment, and tools for project task completion.
• Understand quality control standards and ensure their implementation. Make sure Jobs are built to quality standards. Strive for no-defect construction.
• Coordinate with co-workers on job task and scheduling of projects
• Perform installation of sheet metal and roof systems specific to current job for the completion of daily project task.
• Must do his or her part for inspecting projects for safety, follow proper specifications, quality installation, cleanliness and workmanship
• Keep builder and project manager informed of job production status.
• Notify Superintendent far enough in advance of any materials, equipment, and tool deficiencies.
• Conduct pre-closing walk-throughs with Superintendent to resolve any punch list items.
• Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.
• Interior and exterior renovations may require work to be done in extreme (heat, cold or humid conditions) or harsh environments
• Occasionally be asked to perform other duties not listed above that are in the best interests of the company

Other Skills and Qualifications – Good interpersonal skills are necessary to build effective working relationships with employees, contractors and other company suppliers or vendors.  Qualifications:  High school education or equivalent; must be able to pass a drug test; 

Work Schedule:          Monday-Friday 7am- 5pm (Occasionally Saturday if needed)

Compensation:            $16-25.00 per hour depending on experience and other factors, some benefits provided.
