Nashville Veterinary Specialists Animal Emergency (NVS) is searching for Veterinary Technicians to join our GROWING Surgery team!

Summary: Oversee the flow of anesthetic and sedated procedures, monitor hospitalized patients in the pre, intra, and post-operative periods, perform in-house lab work, treatments/procedures/diagnostics, nursing care, admitting and discharging patients, client communication and education.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Have LVMT, CVT, LVT, or RVT licensure
- At least 1 year(s) of veterinary hospital experience
- Have a reasonably in-depth understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes
- Have broad technical abilities (Phlebotomy, catheterization, patient restraint, radiographs, in-house lab,pharmacology, medication/fluid/oxygen administration, etc.)
- This person needs to be very detail-oriented, perform well under stress, and thrive in a team-minded environment.
- Must obtain Tennessee Licensure within 90 days of their start date (New Veterinary Technology Graduates are encouraged to apply!)

Technical Duties:
- Formulate anesthetic and sedative protocols.
- Calculate and pull up medications for anesthetic and sedated procedures.
- Induction and maintenance of anesthesia.
- Place IVC, start IVF.
- Venipuncture and in-house lab work.
- Troubleshoot complications during the perioperative period.
- Perform radiographs with proper protocols.
- Fill prescriptions
- Complete invoices and surgery reports.
- Complete requisitions
- Contribute to the cleanliness of the surgery department.
- Assist pack/prep staff.
- Other misc. tasks within the surgery department within the surgery
Customer Service:
- Greet clients and welcome them into the hospital
- Assist in checking clients in/out
- Assist in entering client, patient, rDVM, and financial information into the hospital system.
- Assist with taking payments and deposits
- Answer client questions and phone calls
- Assist with scheduling appointments
- Client callbacks
- Process and respond to faxes/email
Training:
- Completion of anesthesia training through NVS.
