What are the responsibilities and job description for the Proposals Specialist position at nVent?

In our San Diego lean manufacturing facility, w e produce various components that protect sensitive computer equipment from heat and vibration - primarily in the defense and aerospace industries. These components are part of our industry leading SCHROFF product line.
You will provide technical assessments including requirements, create cost structures to support specifications, establish profit margins, and quote customer pricing and lead time. You will also support the overall site sales strategy through efficient and timely responses to internal customers.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPEREIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
Issue quotations based on customer specification, application requirements, costing and manufacturability.
Working closely with Quality, Sales, Project Managers and Customer Service to finalize quoting.
Determine and specify standard product and/or base design used for custom application.
Maintain high level of performance by meeting team key performance indicator (KPI) goals.
Reviewing all pricing received for correctness and accuracy.
Assembling and validating the final quote markup pricing.
Ensuring that quotes are reviewed for BOM completeness, including labor and tooling of each BOM called out with customer requirements and company standards.
To ensure that all quotes are completed in a timely and consistent manner.
Perform customer service activities to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
Support Front End Quality for quotes, working with customer Quality and internal Quality to ensure compliance
YOU HAVE:
Prior exposure to government, military and/or aerospace contracts a plus.
Technical training in mechanical design or associated discipline, and/or 3 years of experience in a customer service position.
Working knowledge and respect for manufacturing and design requirements and a functional understanding of mechanical assemblies.
Proficient technical writing as well as good written and verbal communications skills.
Strong customer service skills with demonstrated success satisfying customer requirements.
Ability to manage and prioritize customer requests.
Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment in order to perform data entry and analysis, database management, and report generation with a refined understanding of enterprise MRP and data base software.
Detail-oriented and possess excellent math, analytical, proofreading and problem solving skills
Able to work well within a team environment

Our San Diego, CA facility is an ITAR controlled site. All candidates must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15.

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
