Summary
The Accounting Associate is responsible for maintaining and processing accounting records and financial transactions especially accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Accounting Associate will provide support to the accounting department with various initiatives and projects, a specific area of continual focus will be product costing and analysis of vendor cost savings. Incumbent will play an active role of a fast growing small business, open to wearing many hats and have high integrity in all that they do.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable process by receiving and processing invoices, ensuring invoices are approved before payment deadline, selecting invoices for weekly payment batches, and marking invoices as paid in accounting software.
- Oversee accounts receivable process by ensuring customer statements and invoices are sent, posting payments to customer accounts, and following up on past due invoices.
- Ensure compliance with vendor paperwork requirements including W9s and Certificates of Insurance
- Review vendor expenses for potential cost savings opportunities
- Assist with product costing by working with production teams to ensure accurate reporting of time and material costs and working with accounting department on costing calculations and variance to actual analysis.
- Assist with other accounting functions such as taxes, monthly/yearly financial reports, and miscellaneous paperwork and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or another related field preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of education. Prior Accounts Payable and/or costing experience is a plus.
- 2 years of related field experience preferred
- Excellent computer skills and a detailed knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- Excel experience required. Experience using advanced functions such as pivot tables and vlookup is a plus.
