What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Auditor position at O'Reilly Auto Parts?
The Internal Staff Auditor is responsible for performing audits, analyzing financial data, evaluating internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position will be involved in preparing audit reports, communicating findings to management, and collaborating with various departments to enhance organizational processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in coordinating internal audit engagements, including the gathering of all request list items and follow up questions arising during audit fieldwork.
Assist external auditors with SOX engagement and other areas of the financial audit.
Serve as liaison between external partners and management during audit engagements.
Assist in the development of test plans for key controls selected for testing. Analyze department statistical records to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Select items for testing understanding and ensuring the populations are accurate and complete.
Execute test plans and document findings, determining the effectiveness of key controls based on test results.
Complete projects to identify efficiencies and improvements to organizational processes through data analytics and research.
Demonstrate strong leadership skills, ensuring consistent training, mentoring and development of other audit team members.
Maintain necessary documentation for assigned projects.
Travel as necessary to complete assigned internal control and process verification reviews.
All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
1 years of audit experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong technical understanding of financial reporting including relevant GAAP, SEC reporting and related internal control environment
Strong analytical skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office specifically in Excel and Word
Eagerness to learn and take on increasing level of responsibility
