Do you enjoy working in a dynamic atmosphere where no two days are the same?! Durham Food Hall is just that. With 10 restaurants, a main bar, and 3 event spaces, there is always something keeping you busy. With lots of people and moving parts, were looking for a hardworking and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team. This Manager will be the backbone of our space, keeping it operational for our restaurants and clean and comfortable for our guests.
The Maintenance Manager is expected to work independently, taking initiative and handling responsibilities as outlined with a low amount of oversight. This Manager will report directly to the Sr. Hall Director, and will have a crew of Maintenance/Clean Team Members to manage. The Maintenance Manager will be the first to know when something needs to be replaced, refilled, or repaired.
Responsibilities include:
Managing a team of people -
- Work collaboratively with the Sr. Hall Director of the business to schedule shifts within a budget for the Maintenance/Clean Team Members.
- Assigning responsibilities as needed, and keeping opening, closing, and cut duties up to date.
- Find maintenance and cleaning projects for the team within the space and take responsibility for their completion.
- Make sure the team is working with professionalism and keeping up with standards.
- Ensuring all team members are communicating and working effectively as a team.
Cleanliness -
- Keep all public areas clean and presentable for guests.
- Make sure all equipment is functioning properly
- Cleaning things like tables, chairs, doors, and the floor.
- Collection and disposal of compost, garbage, and recycling.
- Ensure that the common areas at the back of the house meet the standards of the Health Department.
- Clean and fill the bathrooms.
- Ensuring all necessary items for guests are restocked and ready to use (glassware, silverware, straws, napkins etc.)
Dishwashing -
- Picking up dirty dishes from bus stations and cleaning tables.
- Take dirty dishes to the dishwasher and wash them.
- Keep the dishwasher clean and running, replace chemicals as needed, and report when supplies need to be reordered or when the machine needs service.
- Keep the dish room clean and organized.
Interactions with Guests -
While service is not your primary responsibility, it is possible that you will be on the floor and in contact with guests. A positive attitude and warm and helpful interactions with guests are expected. You may need to pleasantly direct guests to another person who can help them.
Interactions with Maintenance/Clean Team Employees -
We have a very diverse team, and it is important that you are able to communicate effectively with each of them. Some of your clean team employees may not be 100% fluent in English. Bilingual English and Spanish would be preferred. Management can also help with full communication.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift for 8 hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs, sometimes over your head.
- Must be able to work with chemicals (dish detergent, peroxide cleaners, sanitizer, etc.)
