Title: Spanish Enrichment Teacher

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 5 30-minute classes on Thursdays at both campuses

11:35-12:05, 12:25-12:55, 1:40-2:10, 2:15-2:45, 2:50-3:20

Reports to: Dean of Faculty

Summary

The Teacher will engage the students in a lively encounter with the Spanish language in such a way that draws them into the language and culture, nurturing a desire to explore more on their own.

Minimum Qualifications

• Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission of Oak City Academy
• Commitment to OCA’s passion to cultivate joyful learners who bring heaven to earth
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proficient in Spanish
• Experience working with children in Spanish
• Aptitude for the work to be performed
• Interest in children and education
• Emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved
• Loves children and can manage a classroom of children in a peaceful manner
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Dean of Faculty finds appropriate and acceptable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understanding of and proficiency in Google Suite
• Ability to create lesson plans via Google docs

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Essential Functions

• Plan the curriculum for the year in conjunction with the Dean of Faculty’s desires. The curriculum plan is the outline of concepts to be covered each week. This plan will be provided at the start of the school year
• Submit a request for materials before the school year begins
• Prep the environment for the students prior to their arrival
• Teach the students according to the curriculum design
• Informally assess the students according to the curriculum design

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position are limited to setting up whatever is needed to conduct the Spanish lesson. This may involve moving light furniture or teaching outside.
