We are currently hiring for a Senior Store Designer to join our Store Development team.

Position Summary:

Our stores are the best representation of our brand and who we are; it is usually the first impression our customers will have of us. It is critical that our stores are built with a consistent vision but each retaining a unique character of its own.

The Store Development is responsible for all new and existing OAK FORT store design and construction projects. This includes all phases of the project from schematic design stages through to construction documents and project administration while honoring budget, schedule, and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate works well in a team environment, has an understanding of the OAK FORT brand aesthetics, and in addition to required skills, brings both energy and openness to learning and growing in our quickly expanding company.

What you’re responsible for:

The following sections are applicable to both new store developments and existing store improvements or renovations.

  • Leads store design projects taking them from brief through to completion with Director of Store Development
  • Create detailed CAD drawings necessary for communicating the design intent and/or construction
  • Create 3D models and renderings of design concepts to communicate design intent to internal/external partners
  • Prepare and coordinate drawing package in partnership with externals for landlord and building permit submissions following OAK FORT design guideline and the brand strategy
  • Liaises with key project stakeholders at varying stages of projects working closely with internal departments including Visual Merchandising, Creatives, Retail Operations, Marketing, IT, Facilities and Logistics
  • Review drawing sets for adherence to design standards and accuracy
  • Support Construction Project Manager for contract administration, shop drawing reviews, etc.
  • Assist with the on-going development of OAK FORT Store Design Standards
  • Other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field is required
  • 8 years of design experience working on retail projects with a strong design portfolio
  • Strong understanding of retail store design with the focus on a total and immersive customer experience
  • Strong understanding of both US and Canadian commercial design standards/regulations
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape and Adobe Programs
  • Excellent time management skills to include prioritization and planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
