Overview

This is an coordinator position designed to assist the GAC Manager in a variety of functions including; volunteer recruitment and training, fund-raising coordination, site location coordination and overall planning, operation and growth of the GCLTS Program. The coordinator will assist in managing the current volume of school. Map planning for the addition of new schools through review of potential Aquatic Center site locations and proximity to elementary schools. Solicitation of potential sponsors necessary to add more schools. Grant writing, presentations to civic groups and community organizations to inform and gain support both financial and Instructor (paid staff and volunteers) to reach our goal of providing all Guilford County Public Elementary School second graders with swim lessons. The person in this position will report directly to the GAC Manager and will work closely with community leaders and business owners including the Greensboro Sports Council and Guilford County School Area Superintendents. The coordinator will also work with part-time area school coordinators and the two deck coordinators to implement new schools into the program through scheduling, training of staff and other onsite duties during swim lessons as needed.

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, skills required of employees so classified.

  • Assist with the recruitment and coordination of training of instructors to meet the needs of our schools, and our goal of teaching all elementary schools.
  • Assist with identifying organizations who may have individuals interested in helping instruct.
  • Assists wih recrutiing, training, and the enrollment of instructor staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and refine presentation documents, photographs and power points, to professionally share the program history and goal.
  • Focus areas include local colleges and universities and civic associations.
  • Assists with fund raising efforts. This will include researching potential businesses to become sponsors, presentations to local groups, and grant writing.
  • Refining sponsor documents and benefits of sponsorship.
  • Focus areas include local franchise retail and food businesses as well as large corporations.
  • Attend swim lessons (mainly day one), subbing in as needed to instruct, graduation planning and coordination and misc. record keeping and tracking.
  • Other duries and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:The minimum amount of formal education typically required to be hired for/promoted into the position. The minimum amount of working time, beyond education (or equivalent), required to be hired for/promoted into the position.

 

Education: Bachelor's DegreeExperience: Less than 1 year of related experience.

INFORMATION PROCESSING AND LATITUDE:Evaluates the mental process in using job knowledge to successfully complete the duties of the position. The amount of guidance and review received by the position and the amount of freedom to take action.

 

Information Processing: Occasionally adapts procedures to resolve unusual cases; makes some decisions requiring consideration of criteria.Latitude: Functional or general guidance provided: Participates in determining objectives. Plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion sufficiency in meeting objectives.

 

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:ARC Firt Aid and CPR and LG certification. ARC (American Red Cross), First Aid

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED BY STATUTE OR REGULATION: Driver's License
