Role Summary:
This position is to support ONE’s North America Dangerous Goods Manager in ensuring regulatory compliance, as well as, the utmost of safety while in transport. Incumbent must be a quick learner with the ability research and comprehend detailed regulatory requirements. This role requires a forth right individual with a desire to protect ONE’s interests and work cohesively as a team extending to local and overseas colleagues. Required to uphold and enforce ONE’s and vendor DG policies and procedures to eliminate risk and minimize costs. Responsibilities includes auditing of customer’s Dangerous Goods Declarations, or requests at booking stage and any necessity to troubleshoot for compliance with International and Domestic (US and Canada) requirements.
Core Required Skills and Competencies:
Responsibility includes staying abreast of IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods), 49 CFR (US Code of Federal Regulations), TDG (Transport Dangerous Goods) regulations and other DG compliance related matters, as applicable.- Assist in the processes of documenting and administering North America’s DG Port and Terminal restrictions, as well as, rail vendor policies.
- Assist manager in administering DG eLearning training programs within ONE North America.
- Monitor and report non-compliance matters; assist in educating origin offices for requirements to / from / within North America.
- May assist Manager in the research of related DG matters and resolution with Alliance partners.
- Assist Manager in collaborating with all internal/external entities to administer DG shipment requirements and the development of policy.
- Ability to evaluate data, analyze, and problem solve in a timely manner.
- Responsive, dependable and follows through for satisfied customer maintenance and ensure shipments meet regulatory and policy requirements.
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Succinctly communicate regulatory requirements for resolution of non-compliance matters; provide necessary guidance to ensure proper data entry into ONE proprietary system to protect ONE from fines, penalties, and operational delays.
Function Specific Required Skills and Competencies:
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.- Tracking pending items and follow through to completion is a necessity.
- Proficient with Google, Excel and other analytical tools.
- Ability to remain professional and make clear reasoned decisions under pressure and be able to adapt to fast changing situations.
Required Minimum Years’ Experience:
2 industry or analytical related preferred
Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
