Position Overview

The Policy Analyst is responsible for conducting research, analysis, writing and coordinating comments on regulatory and legislative action impacting potential and existing customers. This person is expected to work both independently and as a team member on a variety of projects and will support other strategic tasks and efforts as needed.

Essential Duties

  • Analyze, prepare, and recommend public policy positions aligned with the OCHIN mission.
  • Prepare advanced correspondence, including testimony, white papers, reports, letters and other forms of official communications intended for internal and external audiences.
  • Identifying opportunities to raise awareness of OCHIN in regulatory and legislative bodies at state and national level
  • Establishing process for data collection and analysis to ensure data is consistent, complete, and that analysis is in line with current strategic priorities and focus
  • Track and maintain legislative database as well as coordinates legislative review process.
  • Monitor state and federal legislative/governmental activities with the goal of proactive organizational response to opportunities and issues.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to identify priorities and opportunities
  • Writing and editing on a variety of topics; to be easily understood by the intended target audience(s) and consistent with OCHIN voice, style, and strategic focus
  • Support creation and upkeep of content and materials (e.g., collateral, presentations, etc.) related to OCHIN strategic priorities for policymakers


RESPONSIBILITIES FOR IMPROVING THE SYSTEM

All OCHIN employees are responsible for working together to improve OCHIN (internally and externally). When changes are considered, we will use the following questions from the Model for Improvement routinely:

  1. What changes do we want to test?
  2. What are we trying to accomplish or learn from these changes?
  3. How will we know a change is an improvement? (Use of measures will help us understand if our changes are improvements.)
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Policy, legal, legislative or public affairs
  • Bachelor's degree in politics, health, communications, or a related field
  • Exemplary communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
  • Exemplary project management skills with a high degree of accountability and organization
  • Proven critical thinker who makes appropriate decisions and finds solutions easily
  • Extreme attention to detail; takes pride in and ownership of work and is able to manage projects from concept through launch with very little supervision
  • Must work effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines, delivering superior results
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on working on a variety of key initiatives concurrently
  • Proven ability to work within tight timelines with high quality output
  • Sincere commitment to working collaboratively with all constituent groups (members, staff, etc.)
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Ability to adhere to brand guidelines (i.e., producing content that is consistent with the company or program brand)
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and listen and learn from stakeholders including members, board members, vendors, and other employees

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for the position.

Base Pay Overview

The typical offer range for this role is minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay in a national market scope for this position. Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors directly relevant to this position, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, responsibility, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
