Summary
This position will serve as a key support function for the production officers of the Commercial Banking area and the Chief Banking Officer, focusing on developing and maintaining commercial lending and depository relationships for the Bank. This position will aid in the management of the bank’s global commercial portfolio by participating in projects as directed by the Chief Banking Officer. The individual filling this position should be highly entrepreneurial and motivated, as this position should prepare them for success as a Commercial Banking leader within our organization.

- Portfolio Manager Role:
- Assist Bankers in preparation of any loan file comments, monitor loan covenants, monitor proper financial statement reporting, and monitor any collateral reporting as dictated by the policies of the organization.
- Prepare and/or analyze various periodic reports as requested by Senior Management, including the Market President and Chief Banking Officer (portfolio trends, b. exceptions to loan policy, risk ratings, loans sorted by various collateral codes, others as requested).
- Responsible for keeping current on all deposit and credit compliance and regulations; disseminating this information to the local and bank wide teams, and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Monitor loan repayment activity and take necessary action to collect past due accounts discussing with supervisor as required (Collections).
- Maintain a general understanding of products and services available within the Bank to refer customers to the proper department contact person.
- Provides support and sales reporting for the Bank’s sales efforts which may include selling and promoting Bank’s services, as opportunities arise.
- Ability to display strong credit underwriting skills, knowledge and proficiency in explaining, selling and administering products and the ability to use sales skills in negotiating financial terms.
- Performs duties quickly and accurately while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Promotes our financial institution and its lending and depository services to the community and helps to identify and serve the community’s financial needs by participating in community activities.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Credit/Lending Role:
- (These duties will be primarily performed to assist Bankers in servicing the clients of Asst. Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Presidents, as well as Commercial Banking and Private Banking Officers – This position also supports the Chief Banking Officer for the bank’s global commercial portfolio)
- Analyze financial and credit information pertaining to prospective and existing customers, provide subjective and objective risk taking, analyze the credit history of applicants and determines their loan repayment capabilities, spread and analyze financial statements for existing and prospective clients.
- Makes recommendations for changes to loan structure or presentation, as needed.
- Completes Lenders’ portions of credit approval presentation and prepares a written analysis of the loan and borrower.
- Assist in general preparation for credit presentations to appropriate approval authority (matrix, credit committee, etc.).
- Recommends credit grades.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Five years’ experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
- Strong credit skills including financial and analytical skills.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Has ability to work in a team setting.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers about the financial institution’s loan and deposit products, programs, and policies.
- Has ability to organize and prioritize time and activity under minimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel.
