Construction Estimator

****This position could be a Hybrid position. The position must physically report to the Columbus office weekly.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review all bid documents including scope of work, contract, front end documents, specifications, drawings, schedule, etc. Invite Subcontractors and suppliers if necessary. Prints or uses electronic drawings and specifications in preparation for creating estimates for each new job.
- Develop complete project costs derived from accurate take off within the allotted time frame.
- Participate in value engineering process; evaluate material and alternate methods of construction for cost efficiency and quality.
- Create proposal or complete bid form and include assumptions or qualifications.
- Submit bid and follow-up with customers to determine bid competitiveness and to review the scope of work.
- Notify Operations of awarded projects and participate in project kick off meetings to ensure scope of work, specifications, and customer requirements are properly handed off to operations.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with new and existing customers.
Requirements:
- An Associate Degree in engineering or construction management and minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry is required. In lieu of degree 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry maybe considered.
- Bachelors in Construction Management or engineering (Preferred)
- Basic Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient with commercial estimating software such as: The Edge, QuickBid/On- Screen Takeoff, etc
- Ability to add, subtract, and divide all units of measure. Ability to compute percentages, interest, profit and loss; basic statistics, ability to read and use graphs/charts and general algebra.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and reports etc.
- Good understanding of bidding processes and able to visualize various building techniques.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial construction methods, processes, and techniques
- Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and market trends.
- Ability to understand & interpret specifications and drawings for the scope of work.
- Detail oriented with the ability to focus on quality and accuracy.
