Octane is looking for an engineering manager well-versed with the rapid pace and demands of greenfield projects, especially in the direct to consumer space. We are looking for someone who can help guide their team with their experience working on new feature delivery, performance optimization, and third party site integrations. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives off of the challenge of coaching their engineers to strike the right balance between feature delivery, operational health, and models strategic business thinking when it comes to incurring technical debt.
Responsibilities

- Grow your engineers and keep them motivated, empowered, and happy through effective continuous career development conversations
- Partnering with stakeholders to help your team understand their mission and how they fit in with the overall business goals; define and execute your team’s long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap
- May be needed to jump into code but encouraged to prioritize leadership over direct contribution
Requirements
- 5 years experience in software engineering, at least 2 of them in a lead or manager capacity
- Experienced with managing remote/hybrid teams
- Growth mindset
- Have a passion for building and delivering products that require research, iteration, and discovery
- Experienced interacting with senior management; ability to demonstrate critical thinking and thought leadership.
- Proven track record of effectively developing direct reports through continual feedback and goal-setting, and growing them through the ranks of an engineering organization
- Managed teams of 5 direct reports or more
- Advanced understanding of building distributed web applications
- Familiarity with A/B testing and web analytics
- Demonstrated ability to attract, identify, and mentor top engineering talent
