General Summary
The Patrol Sergeant is an active member of the Odessa College Police Department.
Specific Position Duties
Responsible for supervising police personnel engaged in law enforcement; Duties associated with the protection, safety, and welfare of students, employees, visitors while providing for their welfare through crime; Prevention activities and enforcement of laws and to provide first line; Supervision for police officers engaged in general and/or specialized police work within the field; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited institution of higher education; Must possess a Advanced Certification issued by TCOLE; Must possess a valid Texas driver license; Knowledge of Texas criminal law, investigative, and crime prevention Techniques; Must possess understanding of community policing techniques Knowledge of rules of evidence and the laws governing the custody of persons; Must possess a thorough knowledge of the Odessa College Department Policy Manual; Have a minimum of five (5) years of honorable service as a full-time paid peace officer, in addition to one (1) year of honorable service as a full time officer with the Odessa College Police Department
