What are the responsibilities and job description for the Growth Marketing Specialist position at Odoo?

Job Description

Growth Marketing Specialist

This is a hybrid (40% remote and 60% onsite) role in San Francisco, CA.

About Odoo

Odoo is an open-source enterprise resource planning (ERP) software used by millions of users worldwide, tailored specifically to small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Even though our scope is tailored for SMBs, some of our enterprise customers include Toyota, Driscoll's, NASA, AMD, and many more.

The key value Odoo provides is through its suite of integrated business applications that all connect and work seamlessly together. Instead of businesses having to rely on 10-14 standalone applications (that don't talk to each other) to run their day-to-day operations, Odoo offers a vertically integrated software suite that enables businesses to streamline, automate, and scale all of their core processes across various departments, including sales/CRM, supply chain and inventory, manufacturing, procurement, website and eCommerce, HR, and more.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Growth Marketing Specialist to join our team to build and maintain the digital advertising infrastructure that we rely on for Odoo's lead generation and brand awareness efforts within the online media buying space. The Growth Marketing Specialist's main task is building new and scaling existing customer acquisition campaigns across paid search and social channels.

Reporting to the Marketing Operations Manager, the Growth Marketing Specialist will be responsible for growing and optimizing all Odoo paid advertising program aspects, focusing on paid search and social. If you love digging into data, playing with spreadsheets, finding growth and optimization opportunities, and driving MRR, then this role is for you.

All candidates who apply for this role will be expected to perform logic, math, and PPC use case tests as part of their application.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage paid advertising campaigns across search and social channels. You'll identify and execute campaign management tactics daily across multiple campaign types (e.g., search, social, display, video), including account structure, settings, targeting, creative, bidding, A/B testing, analytics, and more.
  • Constantly monitor and optimize new and existing campaigns to adhere to various KPIs and quarterly/annual benchmarks. You'll primarily optimize for CPA and understand how to increase CTR, conversion rate %, and lead generation quality through best practice adoption and continuous testing effort, all while improving ROAS.
  • Hit aggressive growth targets. As a rapidly growing mid-size company, we have some aggressive goals for our lead pipelines; we expect you to be fired up to try to exceed those goals with quick and precise execution. You'll even find opportunities for growth and efficiency that we have yet to think of, and it will be up to you to chart your course to realize them.
  • Plan and build digital advertising campaigns, test them, and iterate on what works. We have a healthy budget across platforms and accounts. You'll lead that spend, allocate dollars and time efficiently, run tests, report, and iterate to improve performance.
  • Act autonomously, responsibly, and transparently. There's so much you could do, but you'll focus on what you should do immediately. Since you're a self-starter, you get to work right away on the areas with the most impact. You'll communicate regularly with your team about what you're doing, optimization ideas, and new strategies you want to try.
  • Report your findings quarterly using ads manager and Odoo CRM. This is the part where your spreadsheet skills can really shine. Clearly show the progress of your campaigns quarterly, using a variety of formulas around data you've pulled from each platform's ad manager and Odoo's internal reporting tools.
  • Support and/or lead team efforts to build and grow new advertising channels, such as Amazon, affiliates program, Quora, Reddit, etc.

Must-Have:

  • Demonstrable, results-driven PPC knowledge. You're knowledgeable about the latest PPC best practices and how they apply to all major search and social platforms. You also have rich experience running medium-to-large sized monthly budgets (minimally 5-figure spend or more per month) and can show/discuss your results and process from previous campaigns you've managed. You also have a well-rounded toolkit of approaches to tackle different campaign goals. You even understand advanced strategies, such as how to build multi-touch nurture sequences and retargeting campaigns across various platforms.
  • Openness to learn and be taught new things. You're confident you can make an impact with your knowledge and abilities; however, you're also humble enough to know you will need to learn from and follow some SaaS marketing masters-because this industry changes fast and, as an open-source company, we always lead with the best ideas that are informed by strong logic.
  • Deep attention to detail. You understand that one poor keystroke can topple an entire attribution empire. One typo can hurt our brand. And one upload error can shut down an entire account. This is not a “fast and loose“ role, so we expect candidates to be measured and very particular about the quality of their work.
  • Intermediate or Advanced math and spreadsheet skills. If you're applying for this role, you know that paid advertising is generally a numbers game. Mental math might not come naturally, but it helps if it does. Formulas and pivot tables do too.
  • “Bottom-line“ mindset around revenue and driving efficiency. The beauty and the challenge of paid advertising is how easily it's tied to revenue. That thrills you because you will impact the company's growth and success directly, as well as the lives of your coworkers and our ability to create more jobs worldwide.
  • Relevant experience in your field. You've ideally crushed campaign management in paid search or social before, have some SaaS marketing experience or certifications under your belt, and are ready to take on more campaigns, more budget, or both.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset. You are open-minded, flexible, and can react to change with agility. You're eager to join a culture where it's “all hands on deck“ and rewards high-performance and those who take the initiative.
  • Quick and autonomous learner. You constantly seek to improve your knowledge and actively teach yourself new ideas and concepts independently. You also know how to ask for help when you need it.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in either Business, Marketing, Communications, Computer Science or Writing
  • Portfolio of past projects that demonstrate an ability to create and scale paid digital advertising campaigns
  • Excellent writing skills. You understand the difference between style and voice, avoid filler/vague language, and can communicate concise technical information through thoughtful, bite-sized narratives.
  • Bilingual
  • Experience using Adobe suite or similar creative tools
  • Experience with, or a passion for open-source software and its methodologies
  • Experience with ERP software and/or a SaaS company
  • Available immediately

Compensation and Perks:

  • Healthcare, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, FSA, HSA Matching, 401K Matching, and Commuter Benefits
  • PTO (Paid-time-off), paid sick days, and paid holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program; 3 X 1-hour telehealth calls with certified mental health professionals
  • $100 towards a work-from-home office setup
  • Evolve in a nice working atmosphere with a passionate, growing team!
  • Chef-prepared lunches - snacks, fruit, and coffee/drinks on tap!
  • Company-sponsored events for groups of 6 employees

The salary range for this role is $75,000-$100,000. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location.

Ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace where we learn from each other is core to Odoo's values. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives. We are an equal-opportunity employer and a pleasant and supportive place to work. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider employment-qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
