Position Summary
The Milieu Director is responsible for the Recovery Care Specialist and promotes clients’ involvement in the treatment program. The incumbent initiates and assists staff in various clinical, nutritional and administrative activities as directed to ensure optimal client outcome. Serves as a trainer and mentor to the Recovery Care Specialists.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Maintains frequent and close working relationships with clients, staff, Clinical Director, facility leadership, peers and vendors.
Outside the organization: May initiate and maintain working relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors as needed and directed.
Position Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Leads the Recovery Care Specialists in the oversite of Clients in their treatment program.
- Promotes the involvement of Clients in the treatment program.
- Performs routine forms of daily patient care while assisting and ensuring timely and effective clinical activities, charting and orientation completion.
- Works with the Director of Therapeutic Services to ensure appropriate emotional support is provided to clients.
- Spends one on one time with client during scheduled activities and leisure time.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead group(s) and mentors the Recovery Care Specialists in these efforts.
- Communicates pertinent patient information to the Director of Therapeutic Services as well as to the treatment team as appropriate.
- Maintains timely and clinically appropriate documentation. Leads Recovery Care Specialists in the documentation process and alerts management of concerns.
- Ensures Recovery Care Specialists are participating and eating meals with the clients, providing role modeling health food and body image behaviors. Observes client behavior during and after meals. Mentors the Lead Recovery Care Specialists with the same.
- Assists with and leads in the timely completion of administrative duties, including but not limited to checklists, answering phones, mail distribution, scheduling.
- Responsible for representing the Recovery Care Specialist team in treatment team meetings, leadership meetings, and other meetings as needed.
- Assists with and leads in the timely completion of housekeeping duties, including cleaning of facilities (i.e. taking out trash, loading and unloading dishwasher, laundry, running errands and other duties as assigned).
- Makes hiring decisions for the Recovery Care Specialist position, having strong communication about scheduling needs.
- Manages the annual review process for Recovery Care Specialists.
- Conducts meetings with the Recovery Care Specialists throughout the year.
- Conducts tours for clients, family members, students, visitors and interested parties to illustrate and educate the goals of SH.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Selah House Mission and population.
Additional Responsibilities
- Functions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
- Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives of SH are understood and actively supported by the employees.
- Has On-Call responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
Requires 2 years of experience working in a behavioral health setting, preferably with eating disorders. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in combined education and experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers, clients and/or vendors.
- Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as participate in activities outdoors and off facility grounds.
- Performs duties that require the employee to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- May sit or remain stationary for periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell.
- Ability to move 50 pounds.
Other Requirements
Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
