Position Summary:
The Unclaimed Property Examiner conducts examinations of books, documents or other materials relative to the establishment, operation, consolidation, or dissolving of holders to include, but not be limited to, financial institutions, savings and loan associations, currency exchanges, credit unions, consumer credit organizations, business organizations, utilities, insurance companies and governmental agencies. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as examiner in charge of detail operations for holders: reviews and analyzes books, documents, collateral financial statements, and other related materials to ensure compliance with Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, rules and regulations applicable to the assigned holder
- Analyzes pertinent materials, and subsequently documents/examination findings in a logical, systematic report, transmitting reports through appropriate channels for review and filing

Meets with officials of holding entities; discusses results of examination and provides advice and assistance, addressing areas of concern

Establishes and maintains effective public relations and working relationships with officials of the industry being examined

Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably related to the duties enumerated above
Specific Skills:-
Extensive knowledge of examining methods and techniques

Ability to work independently in examining all types of holder classifications
-
Working knowledge of the structure, operation, and management of all types of holder classifications

Working knowledge of business administration principles and elementary knowledge of basic economic principles

Ability to establish and maintain effective public relations and working relationships with officials of the industry being examined

Ability to recognize existing and potential problems based upon established procedures and criteria

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form in a logical and concise manner

Ability to react effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions
-
Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the general public
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business-related field with a minor in auditing; possession of a Certified Public Accountant rating desired; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the duties of the position.
