TIGTA Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.
Qualifications:
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution; or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from date of application. (However, you must graduate prior to being appointed to the position.) if applicable. For more information on education requirements go to Treasury's Pathways Program.
*Veterans who, due to a military service obligation, were precluded from applying to a Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2 year eligibility period may have their eligibility period extended so that they receive the full 2 years of eligibility. The remaining 2-year eligibility period will begin upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. The veteran's eligibility period may not extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of all requirements of an academic course of study.
Specialized experience for the GS-09 is fifty-two (52) weeks of experience at the GS-07 level that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:
- Application of knowledge and skills conducting information technology related audits.
OR
- Experience working as an information technology professional.
OR
Education: master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (or will attain within 9 months of application) or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (or will attain within 9 months of application). Degree must be related. Examples include: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Examples of specialized experience for this position could include:
Experience applying problem solving concepts or techniques to gather and analyze information for a project.
OR
1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement (or will attain within 9 months of application). Degree must be related. Examples include: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
Responsibilities:
These positions will be filled within the Western Region of TIGTA, which includes the following duty locations: Denver, CO, Fresno, CA, Ogden, UT, Seattle, WA, Oakland, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Laguna Nigel, CA. Applicants are limited to 3 duty locations.The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this developmental position.
- Develop and/or identify techniques or methods to use in gathering data and documentation for a variety of diverse and complex activities.
- Independently identify and apply specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives, e.g., use basic statistical sampling as required
- Gather and analyze information obtained though observation, document review, previous audit reports, written policies and procedures, legislative history, financial/accounting records, and other material related to the program, function, or activity under review.
- Interview employees, managers, and others involved with the program, activity, or function being audited and obtain necessary information to assist in audit planning and audit fieldwork.
- Prepare professional work products, such as work paper summaries, memos, report sections, briefing papers, and other documents in accordance with approved formats.
Salary : $53,309 - $91,873
