We seek a dynamic and passionate Events Manager to join the institute’s Marketing and Communications team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a diverse range of public programs, events, and initiatives focused on raising awareness, fostering dialogue, and promoting understanding of these critical issues. The successful candidate is a detail-oriented, organized, flexible professional with experience in events management and working collaboratively and cross-culturally.
Responsibilities:
Event Program Development and Management
- Assist in the development and implementation of public programs, aligning with the organization's core purpose, namely, to give opportunity to survivors and witnesses of the Shoah - the genocide of the Jews - to tell their own stories in their own words in audio-visual interviews, preserve their testimonies, and make them accessible for research, education, and outreach for the betterment of humankind in perpetuity.
- Help identify emerging topics, research findings, and policy developments related to help design innovative programs. Liaise with internal staff to identify appropriate participants, topics, and other content contributing to program success.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to develop diverse programs that reflect the institute's work. These might include, but are not limited to, public and university lectures, panel discussions, workshops, film screenings, exhibitions, and community engagement events.
Event Planning and Execution
- The Events Manager will ensure events and activities are scheduled, reserved, booked, and executed effectively. Responsibilities will involve the end-to-end event planning process, including conceptualization, development, logistics, marketing, and execution.
- Assist as the central point of contact for vendors and external stakeholders, including guests, speakers, experts, scholars, survivors, and community leaders, to secure participation and prepare them for events.
- Serve as internal stakeholder point of contact, providing event planning services and consultation as needed.
- Manage and organize digital attendance RSVP systems, including Zoom Webinars and other digital web management platforms, as needed.
- Supports event marketing and communications (e.g., save the dates, flyers, collateral material, invitations, RSVPs, and signage).
- Review and maintain university and Institute event calendars and room reservations, collaborating with team members and departments.
- Assist in event promotion efforts, including managing invitations, registration, media outreach, and digital marketing strategies to attract a diverse audience.
- Help ensure audience and attendee safety and follow university safety and security policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Events Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with scholars, survivors, activists, community leaders, policymakers, and relevant organizations to ensure collaboration and participation in public programs.
- Assist in partnership building with academic institutions, museums, community centers, educators, and advocacy groups to enhance the reach, impact, and visibility of the Institute’s events.
- Engage with diverse communities and local organizations to ensure inclusivity, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity in program development and delivery.
- Conduct events market research to ensure the organization maintains on-trend execution, strategies, and offerings.
Events Content Curation
- As needed, will coordinate the curation of Institute program content, including multimedia materials, educational resources, and digital platforms to enhance event and audience engagement and learning experiences.
- Ensure program content reflects diverse perspectives, promotes historical accuracy, and addresses contemporary manifestations of antisemitism, genocide, and atrocity issues.
Event Evaluation and Impact Assessment
- Establish evaluation metrics and mechanisms to assess the impact and effectiveness of event programs and use information to optimize the event process, logistics, and outreach.
- Collect and analyze participant feedback, stakeholder input, and program outcomes to improve program quality, relevance, and impact continuously.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and publications to communicate program outcomes, successes, lessons learned, and recommendations to senior leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- At least five years of experience in event management, event planning, or public engagement roles.
- Understanding historical and contemporary issues related to the Holocaust, genocides, and antisemitism.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with survivors, scholars, policymakers, and diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of relevant event software, tools, and databases to support constituent relationship management, marketing and communications, and social media efforts.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to write compelling program content, educational resources, and promotional materials.
- Familiarity with event management software, online platforms, social media tools, and digital engagement strategies to enhance program promotion and audience interaction.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively, adapt to changing circumstances, and bring innovative approaches to public programs focused on sensitive and challenging topics.
The annual base salary range for this position is $87,796.88 - $101,575.99. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
