Position: Fall Internship - Business Development

Type: Unpaid Internship

Schedule: Part-time, unpaid position from Monday, September 9, 2024- December 6, 2024. Must be consistent weekdays in 4-hour shifts (Ex. Monday and Wednesday 8-12 or Tuesday and Thursday 12-4)

Location: Ohio History Center

Reports to: Retail Coordinator and/or Director, Business Development

About Ohio History Connection:

The Ohio History Connection, formerly the Ohio Historical Society, is a statewide history organization with the mission to spark discovery of Ohio's stories. Chartered in 1885, the OHC carries out history services for Ohio and its citizens focused on preserving and sharing the state's history. This includes housing the state historic preservation office, the official state archives, local history office and managing more than 50 sites and museums across Ohio.

Summary:

The project will be updating our online store with items. This will include photography, description writing, and data entry. There will also be some hands-on work of merchandising in the Center Store, new product research, restocking, light inventory work (cycle counting but not full inventory counts,) and light product design.

• Merchandising

Required Education, Skills, Experience:

• Must be enrolled in an academic program OR a recent graduate from an academic program (within one year)
• Majors in Business, Education, Hospitality, Social Science, Art, Graphic Design, and open to other if other skills and interest criteria are met.
• Experience with Word, Excel, photo editing software.

Required Competencies:

• Works well both independently and with and in support of colleagues to complete work.
• Demonstrates a potential to communicate well in written and verbal communications, including informal mediums like email and meetings.
• Retail, Inventory, and/or web design experience is a plus but not a necessity.

Other Requirements:

• Must complete a background check and internship onboarding paperwork
• Must create and account, log internships hours and sign up for internship shifts via Track It Forward
• Must be available to attend fall intern welcome day on Monday, September 9 2024
• Must present at the fall internship summit
